You know, I forgot why I love Book 3 of all my series.

It’s madcap in its hilarity.

I’m reading over some later chapters, after the character named Jason turns up as not missing. Man oh man. Does it get hilarious… Most of the scenes need to be edited up and have the order changed, but I love that I’m reading it and snickering. I also love that I’m seeing Jason’s misadventures a la Music Montage (anyone still remember America’s Funniest Home Videos?)…set to swing music.

Why yes, random brain is very random. :P

I can’t wait to turn this over for Professional Edit to Gayle. It’ll be awesome.

Okay, just did some minor house-cleaning here… Egad, I’m at 600+ spam comments. What the blazing hell?

Damn.

Musical Meanderings is a little more organized now; I updated the Artwork section to include recently done flyers and writeups.

I should definitely do more artist writeups.

In the news lately.

Prince says that the Internet is completely over.

Kenny G’s reply: “I must be dead too, I use it all the time!”

I never thought I’d say this, but… You GO, Kenny.

No, really, what the hell is Prince thinking? I understand not being tech-savvy; as a sometimes computer tech, you wouldn’t believe how many people I find that do not know what to do with a computer, or how one works. But this guy first closes down his website, and then makes comments that the Internet is dead and computers fill your head with numbers that are not good for you. See article link above for details, and let me know how far your eyebrow goes up, because mine needs retrieval from the ceiling. Prince is out of touch with reality if this is his standing opinion.

Seriously, the best and first way to get something nowadays is online. iTunes and Rhapsody make purchasing music a piece of cake, and there’s no longer a need to spend money on an entire album if all you’re after is a song. And if an album is not available online by legal means, then it will become available by illegal means. At least from iTunes/Rhapsody, artists get a cut off the purchasing price, and correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t there some serious hoopla with RIAA and Napster over unlicensed file sharing a few years back?

E-xactly.

And never thought a day would come where I’d back up Kenny G on something, but that’s a brilliant comeback. And geez, I must be dead too, since my books do better in online sales than hard copy! Artists that use the ‘net for promo must all be dead, because that’s one of the fastest ways to gather attendance for their gigs!

What a fine cornucopia of zombies we make, eh? :)

Now back to your normally scheduled random musings.

Apparently, my hard drive on the Dell is getting ready to bite the dust.

Baby is 4 years old, and luckily I have enough running back-up-wise to make it a smooth transition, should I need to do an emergency Migration of Machinery. The last, last thing I want is to suddenly be left laptop-less. I need my portability.

Thing is, I will confess that this may be the excuse I needed to get a more lightweight laptop. Dell is good, but heavyish. My Mac, which is also good, has a short battery life and is bulky. Ideally, I should want either a high-power Netbook (not practical for designing, but awesome for portability), or a Toshiba or Fujitsu small laptop. I need just the bare bones: O/S, wireless, high battery life, high RAM and processing speed. The rest, I have an arsenal for it.

And also, the error that caused my hard drive to get persnickety? Was on my external. Yarr, this is worse than I figured. Sad are my technical matters, and the irony is…I freelance as a technician from time to time.

Yarr indeed.

Hmm. It looks like I was wrong on needing to reformat Book 1 Kindle edition. In fact, it’s pretty good if I just upload the same printing copy as I generally use for the CreateSpace people to generate the hard copy. Looks nigh identical, font is nice and crisp, if a wee bit small.

Gotta love the e-reader, though. I have transferred all the things I couldn’t have a chance to read on, and I love it. I think my commute will be a lot less hassled from here on in.

With special thanks to Ellen…

For presenting me with the Versatile Blogger award!

Now, this award comes with the following rules:

1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award.

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic for whatever reason! (In no particular order…)

4. Contact the bloggers you’ve picked and let them know about the award.

I don’t even need to say the Ellen, who is in my link list as The Word Thief, is awesome, do I? Because she is, a lot.

Now…seven things… You know, I’ve never been quite as good as I wanted to be when it comes to those things.

1. I don’t follow sports.

You’d think: NY. Yankees, Mets, Jets, Giants – there’s a plethora of sports, so I have to look at at least one team, right? Right? Absolutely wrong. Olympic Games I turn on simply out of habit – I was raised watching the Games, and I can’t break that habit. But sports in general, I just plainly overlook. I’m likely the sole person who had no idea Bernie Williams was a Yankees player before he picked up the guitar, until I saw his name on a list of baseball greats. I like Bernie as a guitarist more than I know him as a baseball player.

2. I don’t watch much TV – if any at all.

I will admit it: very hard-pressed to watch TV. No time, no patience. However, there are shows I cannot live without, one of them being…

…you guessed it. CSI. All 3. I love Vegas, because it’s the original, longest-running, and has some of the most insane plotlines I have seen to date.

I also follow Criminal Minds. And Forensic Files. Anything having to do with mysteries. I love my mysteries.

3. Know how some people have a sweet tooth? I have a salt tooth. I love salty snacks.

4. I love to toy with computers’ innards. I might well rebuild my current desktop computer, depending on if I feel like it. I kind of like it as is, but the damn thing needs an auxiliary fan.

5. I have a semi-closeted obsession with the Tudor era, particularly customs and social structure thereof. My historic anthropology mojo seems to have settled on this time in the world.

6. I wear contact lenses.

7. I can’t tolerate spicy foods. Hell, it’s difficult for me to tolerate mild buffalo wings!…which I love anyway…

And as per who else wins the award…damn. I’m lost there! I follow things very randomly, and am pretty sure I don’t have 15.

Definitely Lisa Marie Basile

Gayle, with her editing mojo.

Aheila.

Claire Gillian.

Aimee.

FreshHell.

Lory.

…And of course, what would I do without my writer’s block. Guess who didn’t so much as add a paragraph to Book 3.

Minor update on Boney James

May 28, 2010 Comments off

He’s in recovery, told not to play the horn for 6 weeks.
Considering the maxillar fracture, makes sense to me. Youch. Recover well, James, and when/if you’ll play in NY after this, have some cheesecake. Easy on the jaw and VERY good to your taste buds.

Privacy alert.

April 30, 2010 Comments off

Okay, guys, serious stuff.

There’s a website, http://www.spokeo.com that’s basically a listing of ALL your personal info, including where you live, your age, your estimated credit, etc. It’s also pretty damn accurate. Search yourself, and if you’re on it, click the Privacy link on the bottom. Follow removal instructions.

I saw this and nearly had a heart attack. The estimated credit thing is pretty creepy.  I removed myself from there successfully. Please do so.
